We are very proud of the data quality and user-friendliness of fundville.com. The site is designed to be extremely easy to use. In this post, we will discuss some basic functionalities of Fundville.com and what are the best ways to use them.

There are two ways to start. You can either browse the fund list, or use the search. In every page, we put the link of fund list on the top. The fund list is comprehensive, and includes all the funds that have ever filed 13F to SEC since Q1, 2008. Therefore, you still find links to Bernie Madoff’s SEC 13F filings even though the fund was long closed. Moreover, by browsing the fund list, you may discover many institutional investors that intentionally keep low profile and run under the radar.

The “search” box is another tool to find the information you need. You can either enter the stock symbol, company name, or fund name to find stock or fund. The search is totally based on keyword, the same as the early days of online search. Many users are spoiled by Google and think every search engine behaves similarly.┬áTo fundville’s search engine, “less is more”. Only enter the keyword, for example, enter “AAPL” or “Apple” for “Apple, Inc.”; enter “Soros” for “Soros Fund Management LLC”. If you enter more words, you have a bigger chance to make a mistake. Also, currently we do not support search on manager names. For stock holdings of Warren Buffett, you have to search “Berkshire Hathaway“.

We are working with Google to improve the search on our website. Send your suggestions and comments to support@fundville.com.

A lot of exciting things happened in this month!

  • Added “Export to CSV” button on top of each table. Users now can export the data into a flat file or Excel spreadsheet for further study.
  • Added “Master” and “VPStock” 2 analytical tools. Professional investors would immediately recognize how useful and powerful these tools are. These tools are free.
  • Will write a note in this blog to explain how to use the tools in details later.
  • Opened the blog for everyone to register and contribute. Please take advantage of sea of information provided by fundville.com and contribute your thoughts to the investing community.

Thanks and let’s work together to make this site a great success. Our target is to reach 5000 daily visits in April.
